A cucumber sliced thinly can change the feel of an ordinary sandwich. Nocutu is designed for that small, regular slicing job: a handheld mandoline with a flexible food guard guided along tracks. The guard is the feature to examine before the attractive stack of slices.

Three thicknesses, one type of cut

The blade settings are one, two and three millimetres. Think salad vegetables, garnishes and ingredients where fairly uniform thin slices matter. This is not a multi-blade food processor, and it does not add julienne strips or replace a knife for every vegetable shape.

A knife remains useful when you want a few thicker pieces or need to trim an awkward ingredient. Nocutu becomes more interesting when the same thin-slicing task comes up repeatedly and inconsistent slices are the frustration. Buy for that task rather than a vague ambition to cook faster.

Keep the guard involved

The flexible guard travels on tracks while holding the ingredient against the cutting path. Follow the supplied instructions and keep the guard in use. Do not bypass it to chase the final scrap of food, and never interpret a safety-oriented design as proof that injury is impossible.

A good purchase decision includes whether you are willing to use, wash and store the guard every time. If that extra step feels annoying enough to skip, a sharp mandoline is the wrong shortcut. Leave a small leftover piece instead of exposing fingers to the blade.

Give the slices somewhere to go

The fold-out foot lifts the slicer to create room underneath. Check stability on your own surface and bowl rather than assuming every rim will support it. Move accumulated slices before they obstruct the cutting area.

At about28.5cm long and9cm wide, the ABS-and-stainless-steel tool needs a proper drawer space. The guard also serves as a storage cover, and the adjustment closes for storage. Dreamfarm lists dishwasher cleaning; handle the exposed blade carefully while washing and refitting the cover.

The vegetables and bowls in the maker’s demonstrations are separate. Choose Nocutu when repeatable thin slices genuinely improve your meals and you will use the guard consistently. Keep the knife when you want a versatile tool with fewer parts and less specialist storage.
