The second bag is useful when it does not occupy the first
Markets, beach stops and a few extra groceries can create a carrying need you did not have when you left. Eagle Creek’s packable tote folds to a small bundle and uses lightweight nylon. That makes it a candidate for a spare bag kept inside the main travel bag.

Think about the carry you expect once it opens. A soft packable tote is a different proposition from a structured work bag, especially with a heavy or fragile load. Check handle length and the instructions for the selected version rather than assuming a packed-size claim describes load capacity.

Choose the spare format for a real recurring stop
If you frequently need an extra carry option, a reusable packed tote can prevent improvising with an unsuitable bag. If you always travel with a suitable tote already, another one may be redundant. We have not tested heavy-load comfort or water protection. The buying case is readiness with little stored bulk. Keep the loaded return journey and your route’s bag allowance in mind; a tote that packs into your hand can still become a substantial extra item once full.

The decision before checkout
Think through the loaded return route: handles, distance and the items that need protection. Small stored size is not a tested heavy-load limit or a claim of weatherproof contents. An extra bag still counts as an extra bag when your transport provider limits what you can carry.
