A large kettle can turn a careful pour-over into a splashy guess. The Hario Buono’s narrow gooseneck changes the way water reaches the coffee: a smaller stream directed where you intend it to go. Its familiar ribbed steel shape is attractive, but the spout is the reason to consider it.
The two capacities matter
The selected Silver model is VKB-120HSV, a non-electric stovetop kettle. Its nominal capacity is 1.2 litres, while Hario lists a practical capacity of 800ml. Do not fill to the brim because the product title says 1.2L.

Compare that practical volume with your brewing recipe, including any water needed to rinse the filter. A smaller-looking kettle may still hold enough for your routine; a larger number is not a guarantee of more useful hot water.

Control is still a skill
The thin spout supports a deliberate stream, but pouring speed also depends on the tilt, fill level and your movement. Practice over a safe empty vessel before treating an expensive bag of coffee as the trial run. We have not measured this kettle’s flow rate or claimed it produces better flavour automatically.

The stainless body has a resin handle and lid knob. The maker identifies suitable induction, gas and electric stove use; follow the actual instructions and your hob’s requirements. Keep flames within the base and handle hot components carefully. This is not an electric kettle with a base, thermostat or automatic shut-off.
Buy the missing function, not the photograph
If you already have controlled pouring and prefer digital temperature settings, this kettle may add little. If the ordinary kettle’s broad spout is your recurring frustration, the Buono is a more focused purchase than replacing the entire coffee setup.
Choose it for manual pour-over and an appropriate stovetop routine. Skip it if you need automatic heating control, a full 1.2L working batch or no hot-metal handling. Family lineup photographs include other capacities; the buying link selects the Silver 1.2L model. This is research-based guidance, not a personal stove or pour test.
