Choosing toppings is the enjoyable part of pizza night. Discovering that a new pan does not clear the oven walls is not. The Lodge BW15PP gives you a broad cast iron surface with raised handles, but the first buying decision is surprisingly mundane: whether your oven and storage can accommodate its full footprint.
Fifteen inches is not the whole measurement
The maker specifies a 15-inch pan and a 19.25-inch handle-to-handle span. Measure usable clearance on the rack, not only the oven’s advertised capacity. Allow space to grip and move the handles safely with oven protection.
At a stated 9.91 pounds before adding food, this is substantial cookware. Picture removing it while hot, finding a heat-safe landing spot and storing it afterward. Those practical steps matter as much as the pizza photograph.

An open surface, not a deep-dish pan
The low, rimless design offers room for pizza and flatbreads without the surrounding walls of a skillet. That does not make it an interchangeable choice for a recipe that relies on deep sides to contain dough or toppings.
Cast iron’s heat retention is the reason to compare it with a thin tray, not proof of a restaurant-quality crust in every oven. Dough thickness, preparation and baking method still matter. The serving images illustrate the intended use; we have not tested the finished crust ourselves.

Keep the care question on the table
Lodge recommends oven use, not stovetop cooking, and instructs hand washing, drying and oiling. It is not a dishwasher-safe pizza tray or a pizza stone. A suitable lightweight pan may be easier if pizza is an occasional meal.
Choose the BW15PP for regular oven pizza when its full size and weight fit your kitchen. Skip it for a compact oven, deep-dish recipes or the lightest possible cleanup. Making pizza together should be the pleasure; wrestling with the equipment should not be the ritual.
