The orange fish appears to swallow an egg yolk and spit it into another bowl. That is the whole charm of PELEG DESIGN’s Yolkfish: a playful silicone tool that turns an ordinary baking step into a small demonstration. It is worth considering when you actually separate eggs—or when the recipient would enjoy the joke and use it.
Start with an intact yolk
The mechanism is simple. Squeeze the fish, bring its mouth gently to the yolk, and ease your grip to draw the yolk inside. Move it over the second bowl and squeeze again to release it. The manufacturer photographs show that transfer, not an independent Findweave test of perfect separation.
The important boundary is an unbroken yolk. This is not a filter that recovers a yolk already mixed through the white. If you are making a recipe that needs carefully separated whites, crack each egg into a small intermediate bowl before adding it to the batch. One accident should not become everybody else’s problem.

Cute does not mean necessary
A spoon, separator cup or careful manual method may already serve your kitchen. Yolkfish adds a squeeze-and-release motion and an amusing shape, rather than a new cooking capability. Someone separating eggs only once a year may prefer fewer tools in the drawer. For an occasional baker who likes distinctive utensils, that same small orange fish may make the preparation itself more enjoyable.
The branded store lists dishwasher-safe silicone. Clean the mouth and interior thoroughly after contact with raw egg, then let it dry before storage. Keep raw-egg handling separate from ready-to-eat food. We are not borrowing the seller’s claims of “no mess” or time savings as proven results.

Make the gift match the person
Choose it for a baker who appreciates visual humour, not somebody expecting industrial-speed batch separation. The package photograph helps show the actual object; eggs, bowls and ingredients in the other images are styling props. A small gift works best when the recipient can immediately picture a use for it, even if the first reaction is simply a smile.
