The useful part of a charcoal grill is not always the hottest patch. Sometimes you need somewhere to move food while the outside catches colour too quickly. Weber’s two Char-Baskets hold the fuel in defined areas, making it easier to leave part of a compatible kettle without coals directly beneath it.
Two baskets, several useful arrangements
Place the baskets together for a concentrated direct-cooking area, or position them apart to leave a central indirect zone. A different layout can help you organise the cook, but it does not regulate temperature for you. Fuel quantity, airflow, weather and the lid still matter.

Think about the food you actually cook. If everything is a short, high-heat session, arranging loose charcoal may already be enough. If you often need a cooler place for thicker pieces or to finish food away from direct heat, a defined fuel layout can be more convenient.

Buy for the grill, not the photograph
Model7403 is a set of two aluminized-steel baskets. Weber specifies its charcoal grills of18inches and larger. Confirm your exact grill’s compatibility rather than assuming every similarly sized kettle uses the same space and grate arrangement.

The maker describes room for up to ten regular-sized briquettes per basket. That is a size reference, not a promise that a particular amount will last for your whole meal. Larger briquettes and different fuels change the fit and burn.

A tidier fire is still a fire
Position the baskets according to the grill instructions and handle hot parts with suitable protection and tools. Use a charcoal grill outdoors with the required clearance; never bring burning or apparently spent coals indoors. Let everything cool fully before cleaning or storage.
Manufacturer pictures show empty baskets, charcoal loading and different Weber grill arrangements. The grills, fuel, food and other accessories are not included. They illustrate placement, not a guaranteed cooking result.
Choose these if you own a compatible Weber kettle and want a repeatable way to arrange direct and indirect zones. Skip them if compatibility is uncertain or your existing charcoal layout already works. The upgrade is control over where you put the fuel—not an automatic chef, a thermostat or a guaranteed reduction in charcoal use.
