Zyliss Mango Slicer: Give the Slippery Fruit a Place to Stand

A ripe mango is delicious; holding its slippery sides while working around a hidden pit is less charming. The Zyliss three-in-one slicer pairs a shaped cutter with a holder that supports the fruit and helps with peeling. It is a mango-specific routine, not a replacement for learning where the pit lies.

The pit still decides the cut

The micro-serrated stainless-steel blades separate two cheeks from the central pit. Position the fruit in the holder and align the cutter with the pit’s flattened shape, following the supplied directions. A mango that is unusually small, large, fibrous or irregular may not cooperate with the opening.

Stop rather than forcing a poor fit. Very soft fruit can also collapse under pressure. A knife offers more freedom to adjust around an awkward pit, so keep one available for trimming and for fruit the tool does not suit. No fixed-shape cutter guarantees the same result on every mango.

Peeling is a second step

After splitting, the holder provides a surface for separating a cheek from its skin. The maker’s photographs show that sequence rather than a single magical push that delivers ready-to-eat cubes. Decide whether a supported peeling step improves the job you dislike most.

For frequent mango breakfasts or fruit platters, a repeatable setup may be welcome. For the occasional mango, the existing knife and board remain a sensible alternative. You still need to portion the peeled flesh and clean the cutter, holder and work surface afterwards.

Check the complete footprint

The cutter’s broad handles and separate holder need more room than a small paring knife. Measure the drawer space for both pieces and store them together. Zyliss lists dishwasher cleaning; take care around the serrated blade when rinsing or loading it.

The yellow holder and dark cutter in the gallery demonstrate splitting and peeling. The mango, board and knife shown in preparation scenes are not included. We have omitted a maker dimension graphic whose width differs from the written specification rather than presenting either as a certain fit measurement.

Choose this set when mango preparation is frequent, supported handling is appealing and you are happy to learn the alignment. Skip it when adjustable knife work or fewer specialist pieces better suits your kitchen.
