Sometimes a useful desk upgrade is the one that stops asking for attention. Plug in the ATH-M20x, keep the cable where it belongs and there is no Bluetooth pairing or battery percentage to manage. That straightforward appeal has a tradeoff: this is a wired monitor-style headphone with a cable much longer than most people want in a coat pocket.
Keep three metres of cable at the desk
The original black ATH-M20x has closed-back over-ear cups,40mm drivers and a fixed, single-sided3m cable. It connects through3.5mm, with a6.3mm adapter for compatible equipment. The long lead is useful when an audio interface or instrument is not directly beside your chair, but it is also something to route safely away from feet and moving wheels. We have verified the product design, not carried out a sound test.

A fixed cable cannot simply be unplugged from the earcup when damaged or inconvenient. If replaceable cabling is important, compare that feature before assuming every M-series model has it. This listing is the wired M20x, not the wireless M20xBT.

Closed cups do not mean active noise cancellation
The earcups provide a physical enclosure; there is no active noise-cancelling system, built-in microphone or rechargeable battery. Do not buy it expecting a headset for video meetings. Nor is an audio headphone a substitute for certified hearing protection in loud environments. Keep playback at a comfortable level.

Buy the simple arrangement you actually need
Choose ATH-M20x for a stationary wired listening or beginner monitoring setup with a suitable output socket. Check your computer or phone first: a missing analogue socket may require an adapter. Skip it when everyday pocket use, wireless calls or easy cable replacement matter more. Its strongest practical appeal is not a long feature list; it is a familiar plug-in routine that leaves your desk ready for the next session.
