There is a middle ground between tiny earbuds and a large over-ear headset: a light on-ear pair that folds for the bag and connects wirelessly when the day starts. The Black JBL Tune 520BT is worth a look if you want that straightforward arrangement for familiar playlists, calls and videos—without paying for features you do not need.
Decide whether on-ear is your kind of fit
The cushions rest on your ears rather than surrounding them. That is the key buying question, not the maximum battery figure. If you wear headphones for long stretches or already dislike pressure on your ears, try a comparable on-ear fit first. The foldable frame helps with packing, but a soft bag is not protection against being crushed under heavier belongings.
Two devices, fewer interruptions
Multipoint can make a phone-and-tablet or phone-and-laptop routine simpler. Physical earcup buttons handle playback and calls, while the companion app offers equaliser settings. VoiceAware adjusts how much of your own voice you hear during calls; it is not active noise cancellation. The headphones have no analogue wired-listening fallback, so decide whether wireless-only use suits your devices.
Read the battery promise sensibly
JBL’s “up to 57 hours” is a manufacturer rating, not our listening test. Volume, calls and other settings affect runtime. USB-C charging is useful, but the charging lead is not an audio cable. Choose the 520BT for compact wireless everyday use. Skip it if quieting a noisy commute, spacious over-ear comfort or wired connectivity is the real reason you need new headphones; those require a different set of priorities.
