The mess starts at the narrow opening
Ladling a chunky mixture into a jar can leave the rim covered before the jar is full. OXO’s adjustable funnel combines a wide bowl and neck with a collar and headspace markings. It is designed to make repeated filling more controlled and the rim easier to keep clear.

The large lifting tab is useful when moving from one jar to the next. Check the jar opening and the required headspace for your specific recipe instead of assuming one setting suits everything you intend to preserve.

A filling tool is not a preservation method
This candidate makes sense for repeated jar filling, particularly with ingredients that struggle through a narrow household funnel. For occasional dry ingredients, a simpler funnel may be enough. Never treat the markings or covered rim as proof that food has been safely preserved. Processing method, jar compatibility and food-specific instructions come from a validated preservation recipe. Choose the OXO tool for cleaner, more repeatable transfer; it does not supply the other decisions that make a canning process appropriate.

The decision before checkout
Use the headspace required by a validated preservation recipe, not a convenient mark chosen at random. Jar processing, ingredients and compatibility remain separate decisions. This is a transfer aid: clearer rims and more controlled filling do not prove the finished food has been safely preserved.
